Experience and Approach
Susan Scott, MS, LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. In addition to her clinical training, Susan is trained in Internal Family Systems, a comprehensive and integrative approach to psychotherapy developed by Richard C Schwartz. Over the past ten years, she has worked as a counselor in Central Connecticut with individuals, couples, families, and groups.
She uses a variety of treatment modalities and therapeutic interventions to address issues related to anxiety, depression, ADHD, emotional reactivity, couple/marital issues, divorce, blended families, trauma, addictions, grief and adjustment to life changes and transitions. Finding more effective intrapersonal and interpersonal communication patterns will assist you in developing skills that will help you achieve greater connectedness with yourself and others.
Susan believes that therapy is a collaborative process between the therapist, individual, and/or family. She believes a positive relationship is developed in a non-judgmental and supportive therapeutic environment. Her strengths-based approach encourages individuals to gain greater self-awareness, enhance self-esteem, develop effective coping skills, and increase motivation in order to improve overall functioning and achieve desired goals.
Susan is passionate about helping individuals, couples and families creatively overcome obstacles, find solutions and attain inner balance.
